Wheat free and flavor free. I don't understand how you take something that has pineapple in it and have it end up with very little flavor. I was excited for some zesty sweet sauce and this was neither. It wasn't bad...it just wasn't very good either. It didn't add much of anything. I would not use this sauce again.

Unfortunately, this sauce wasn't zesty in the slightest. And it tasted only vaguely fruity - not really like pineapple at all. We used it as a dip for our coconut shrimp and I feel like I really had to use a lot of sauce (I mean like totally cover the shrimp in the sauce) to get any added flavor. And when I tasted the flavor, it didn't taste bad, but it wasn't anything special either.

I made teriyaki chicken with this sauce and on a whim, I added some crushed pineapple and Mongolian Fire Oil before I threw the pan in the oven. Without the additional flavors, this would have been very, very bland. I can only hope that there are other gluten-free teriyaki sauces out there that take themselves more seriously than this one.

This was a nice, sweet teriyaki sauce, but it was slightly on the plain side all by itself. We added a little bit of tamari sauce to give it a more savory flavor and a little bit of Mongolian fire oil to give it a little bit of a spicy kick. Then we had it on chicken with pineapple chunks and it was very pleasing. But I think the sauce itself needed a little bit of help to make a good meal.

The taste of this soy sauce is different from glutenous soy sauce, but I am not familiar enough to say exactly how. Compared to San-J's Tamari, Ohsawa's flavor is more bold, with the sauce actually seeming to be thicker. It sticks to food better and definitely adds more to the experience. Not better or worse than conventional soy sauce, just different.

This tamari sauce has a thicker consistency than regular soy sauce, but I sort of like the difference. It makes this sauce good for putting directly on meat or vegetables - it is thick enough to give them some flavor. I've been eating tamari so many months that I don't really remember what regular soy sauce tastes like. I know that this tastes different, but I think it tastes different in a good way. I think it's more flavorful than regular soy sauce and I really enjoy it. Honestly, if I had known before I started eating gluten-free that regular soy sauce was so thinned with wheat, I might have chosen tamari just for the flavor.

This sauce's flavor is less apparent than other soy sauces and it seems to be thinner. Not as exciting and it does not add much to food...better than no soy sauce but not by much. Not bad, just not very good.

This tamari sauce was thinner than the Ohsawa tamari sauce we've reviewed. I also think it was less flavorful. If you put this sauce directly on meat it is almost too thin to make much of a difference in the taste. However, it is a decent gluten-free substitute for sushi or rice.
